10 Claude Skills
Every Beginner Should Steal

The exact skill files I'd hand a total beginner — copy, paste, done. No coding required, no guesswork, just ten real skills pulled straight from GitHub.

Why I built this

A skill file is a cheat sheet you only have to write once

A Claude Skill is just a plain text file — usually named SKILL.md — that tells Claude exactly how you want a specific type of task handled: what steps to take, what to check, what the output should look like. You write it once (or grab one someone else already wrote) and Claude reads it automatically every time a matching task comes up, instead of you re-explaining yourself in every new chat.

Think of it like onboarding a new hire. You wouldn't explain your resume format or your file-naming habits from scratch every single day — you'd write it down once and hand it over. That's what a skill does for Claude. It's instructions and know-how, permanently installed.

The best part: skills are portable. The exact same file works on claude.ai, in Claude Code, and through the API. Below are ten real ones, pulled straight from GitHub and tested, covering everything from cleaning up your Downloads folder to planning your next trip.

Want me to walk through installing one live? Comment "Skills" on my latest video and I'll show you.
How to install any skill below — takes 2 minutes
Step 1 Click any skill link below. It opens the skill's page on GitHub (or its own page, for the Fitness Coach).
Step 2 Look for the file called SKILL.md — click it, then click the "Raw" button in the top-right corner. That shows you the plain text version.
Step 3 Select everything on the page (Cmd/Ctrl + A) and copy it (Cmd/Ctrl + C).
Step 4 Go to claude.ai, click the skill icon (🧩) in the left sidebar, then click "Create skill."
Step 5 Paste what you copied into the box and save. That's it — Claude uses it automatically the next time a matching task comes up. You never have to mention it by name.
Requirements Skills require a Claude Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise plan. They work the same way whether you're on claude.ai or Claude Code — install once, use everywhere.
One exception The Fitness Coach skill isn't hosted on GitHub — click through to its page and use the copy button there instead of Steps 2–3. Everything else works exactly the same.
